The school will present the show at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, March 10 and 11, at Donegal High School (DHS), 1025 Koser Road, Mount Joy. A matinee performance is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 12. Senior citizens are invited to attend a dress rehearsal of the show at 2 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, with admission being by donation.
If you don’t remember Footloose the movie with Kevin Bacon, here’s a quick recap: A teenager from Chicago moves with his mother to the small farming town of Bomont. Shocked that a reverend has convinced the town to outlaw dancing, the boy enlists the help of locals to change the law.
Based on the original 1984 screenplay by Dean Pitchford, the musical is a stage adaptation by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie, with music by Tom Snow and lyrics by Pitchford. Additional music in the show is by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins, and Jim Steinman.
Tickets for “Footloose” may be purchased at the box office before each show or between 6 and 8 p.m. on the following dates: Thursday, March 2; Tuesday, March 7; and March 9. Students and senior citizens will receive a discounted ticket rate.
